"The patrol system is not one method in which Scouting for boys can be carried on. It is the only method."
—Lord Baden-Powell, Scouting's founder
Patrols are the cornerstone for the development of the scout. A patrol is composed of approximately 6-9 scouts ranging in age and rank. New scouts are placed in patrols containing scouts ranging in age and rank. This allows the older scouts to help guide and educate the younger scouts to be successful. The patrol method allows Scouts to interact in a small group outside the larger troop context, working together as a team and sharing the responsibility of making their patrol a success. A patrol takes pride in its identity, and the members strive to make their patrol the best it can be. The scouts within a patrol will elect a patrol leader from among their ranks that will represent their patrol at the leadership meetings and help guide the troop.
Within Troop 4 we have a number of Scout Patrols: Monkey, Panther, Raccoon, Roadrunner
Scouts that are 18 & older: Ghosts
Troop 4004 Patrol: Puffin
& the Old Goats (yes, the adults have a patrol too!)
